Segundas Uniones Conyugales: rematrimonios y reemparejamientos en México

Resumen

Desde fines del siglo pasado la disolución voluntaria de uniones ha venido avanzando a nivel mundial incluida América Latina. Este fenómeno reintegra al mercado matrimonial un número mayor de personas disueltas, aumentando así el riesgo de segundas uniones. El objetivo central de este documento es analizar las segundas uniones en México a partir de la información de mujeres de 15-54 años incluidas en la Encuesta Nacional de la Dinámica Demográfica 2018. Los hallazgos señalan que 11 % contrajo al menos una segunda unión en una edad inferior a los 30 años cuya duración es 3 años más larga cuando la primera unión fue un matrimonio que cuando fue una unión libre. En este sentido, las probabilidades de contraer una segunda unión son más altas entre las mujeres que se unen y disuelven sus primeras uniones a edades tempranas, poseen mayor nivel educacional, habitan en localidades urbanas, no realizan trabajos extradomésticos y su primera unión fue unión libre.<

Abstract

Since the end of the last century, the dissolution of unions (divorce and separation) has been advancing globally, with Latin America included. This phenomenon refund more dissolved persons into the marriage market, increasing the risk of new unions. In this case, we analyze the second unions of women present in the Encuesta Nacional de la Dinámica Demográfica 2018. At least 11 % contracted one second union under the age of 30 years whose duration is 3 years longer when the first union was a marriage than when it was a cohabitation. The interval between first and second marriages is also greater than between two free unions. Among the greatest risks of contracting a second union are age of the woman at the first union and at dissolution, higher educational level, living in urban localities, not doing extra domestic work, and, above all, that her first union has been a free union.
