Resumen
This article reviews research based in men’s own testimonies about different aspects in relation with abortion. It also includes suggestions regarding future research. The research reviewed covers attitudes and motivation regarding abortion, impact of abortion on men, male participation in the decision to abort, in the abortion process and in post-abortion care, and knowledge about abortion. The literature found is not very abundant in spite of the importance of understanding men’s experiences and points of view for the benefit of both women’s and men’s health.
El artículo pasa revista a investigaciones en las que se interroga a los hombres sobre distintos aspectos en relación con el aborto. Se hacen también sugerencias para investigación futura. Se revisan investigaciones sobre actitudes y motivaciones frente al aborto, impacto del aborto sobre los hombres, participación masculina en la decisión de abortar, en el proceso de aborto y en los cuidados post-aborto y conocimiento respecto al aborto. La literatura encontrada no es muy abundante pese a la importancia de comprender el punto de vista y las experiencias masculinas en beneficio de la salud de las mujeres y de los varones.
